“Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavour; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord. If your life is cluttered both naturally and spiritually because of a lack of organization how can you be pleasing to the Lord, how can you accomplish what the Lord has for you?
Romans 12:11
There is also an ancient Chinese proverb that states, “A cluttered space equals a cluttered mind.” Is your space, your environment cluttered? Get rid of the clutter! Think of your environment, whether your home, your office, your car, or your purse. If it’s cluttered, it is a representation of your cluttered mind. A Pastor friend of ours related a story of how he heard the Lord say to him that the outside of a house indicates what the inside of the house is like. As he drove up to his home he looked and saw grass uncut, weeds against the fence, children’s toys laying around and dirty windows. He immediately got busy and rectified the situation! The Lord told him it was the same spiritually. A cluttered, unkempt life is indicative of a cluttered and unkempt spiritual life. Wow! Another reason to get our lives in order!
Repeatedly seeing the physical clutter in your environment generates further mental clutter such as stress and confusion in your mind. This causes us to lose time, focus and we get stuck in the muck so to speak! When we are encumbered by clutter in any form we can waste days, weeks and months, maybe even decades, trying to “get with it.” A cluttered life weighs us down making us feel burdened, overloaded and laden down.
Prayer:
Thank you Lord for showing me in what way I need to de-clutter my life so that I might be pleasing to You Lord. Help me to regain the proper focus on You. Thank you Lord.
